It seems that Kevin Osborne has always been able to juggle his multi-faceted career. An amazingly talented singer, trombonist, musical arranger, and band leader, he excels in many aspects of the entertainment industry. A graduate of the prestigious New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Kevin has pursued music ever since.

Over the years Kevin has been asked to perform, record and tour with the biggest names in the music business including David Bowie, Frankie Valli, Carly Simon, Aretha Franklin, BonJovi, Jane Olivor, Debbie Friedman, Bobby McFerrin, Tom Jones, George Benson, 10,000 Maniacs, The Rascals and yes, The Monkees. At the same time Kevin has been successful pursuing a career in New York as a jingle singer, landing dozens of national commercials.

Through a mutual friend, Kevin was introduced to Marc Stevens, one of the principal owners of Hank Lane Music. Marc immediately recognized Kevin’s talent and took him under his wing, adding Kevin to his band as a trombonist and featured vocalist. After a couple of years on the band stand with Marc, Kevin was ready to form his own band. He hit the ground running and was an immediate hit with clients and industry professionals alike. In very short order, the Kevin Osborne Band was booked at private parties in New York City’s most exclusive hotels and private clubs.

While Kevin was performing with his band on the weekends, he pursued his other musical interests during the week. Kevin was hand-picked to participate in a workshop for a new musical headed to Broadway, to be directed by the famed choreographer Twyla Tharp, based on Billy Joel’s music. He quickly agreed and became an original cast member of the on-stage band for the Tony Award-winning musical, Movin’ Out, performing on the Broadway stage during the week while he continued to lead his dance band for parties on the weekend. Kevin still managed to keep up with jingle work as well, singing on national commercials for American Express, Wendy’s, Toys “R” Us, Nissan, Toyota, Mountain Dew, Mastercard, Pepsi, Dunkin’ Donuts, Lifesavers and even the Jolly Green Giant.

Movin’ Out opened even more doors for Kevin, with television appearances on the 2003 Tony Awards, Late Night with David Letterman, Live with Regis & Kelly, and the opening ceremonies for the U.S. Open. In 2008, Kevin was a back up singer and trombonist for Billy Joel at the Piano Man’s sold out two night appearance at Shea Stadium The Last Play at Shea and at composer/arranger Quincy Jones’ 75th birthday party, where he sang with Patti Austin, James Ingram, Al Jarreau and Ashford & Simpson. In 2010, Kevin led his band at the wedding of NBA star Carmelo Anthony. On film, he can be heard on the soundtracks for A Walk to Remember, Nine, The Stepford Wives, Mission to Mars, The Informant, Joe’s Apartment, and The Other Guys, in which he also had a cameo appearance. Kevin has also appeared on film as a band leader in the Julia Roberts movie Mona Lisa Smile. Premiering February 6th, 2012, Kevin can be heard singing Marc Shaiman’s original songs on the new NBC show Smash. Kevin will also be featured on the soundtrack of the Wes Anderson film Moonrise Kingdom, in theaters May 2012.
